The File Room was produced by a small number of artists, art students, and arts administrators working under extreme financial and temporal limitations to collect initial case studies for an interactive database. THIS PROJECT DOES NOT PRESUME THE ROLE OF A LIBRARY, AN ENCYCLOPEDIA, OR EVEN A COPY EDITOR, IN THE TRADITIONAL SENSE. The File Room claims no scholarly, editorial or scientific authority, but instead proposes alternative methods for information collection, processing and distribution, to stimulate dialogue and debate around issues of censorship and archiving.
